Pharyngitis (pharyngitis) and tonsillitis (tonsillitis) are usually the result of a viral infection like a cold or Pfeiffer’s disease. Other causes include bacterial infections, such as streptococcus, or fungal infections (Candidas). Heavy smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and overloading of the vocal cords in adults can lead to throat inflammation. Pharyngitis and tonsillitis have similar symptoms, which worsen in twelve hours. Symptoms include:

• Sore throat.
• Difficulty in swallowing.
• Ear pain, which worsens with swallowing.
• Initiated and sensitive nodes in the neck.

Pharyngitis and tonsillitis with fever and malaise may accompany it, especially if the infection is bacterial. In tonsillitis or tonsillitis, the tonsils become inflamed and covered with a white layer, as shown in the picture. In severe cases the pharynx or tonsils or both designed to get breathing problems. Sometimes an abscess arises alongside an almond: a Peritonsillar abscess. In rare cases today arise from a streptococcal infection several weeks later, the kidney disease glomerulonephritis.
