Symptoms of Varicella zoster virus
Chickenpox is caused by a virus called varicella zoster virus, a member of the herpesvirus family, which also causes shingles. Chickenpox is extremely contagious and can spread by direct contact, droplet transmission and airborne transmission. When someone becomes infected with chickenpox, it appears between 10 and 21 days later. The person becomes contagious 1 to 2 days later the outbreak and remain contagious while blisters are without crust. When you catch chickenpox, the virus stays in the body for life, kept in check by the immune system. About 1 in every 10 adults have herpes zoster. Complications are more common in those who are immunocompromised due to illness or medicines like chemotherapy. Strengthen the Immune System
The first step is to have a healthy lifestyle: healthy diet, regular exercise, adequate sleep, avoiding risky behavior (smoking, excess alcohol), which allows for better overall health therefore more resistant to infection. Furthermore, it should follow the preventive vaccinations mandatory, or as recommended vaccinating the elderly against influenza.
We must also carefully take the medicines prescribed by a physician, reading systematically records accompanying rich information (side effects, interactions with other drugs, recommendations) and do not hesitate to question the doctor or pharmacist if in doubt. The effects may not be immediate, and must continue treatment until the end even if improvement and disappearance of symptoms, particularly in the case of antibiotics: the disappearance of symptoms means fewer germs, but not their disappearance, if treatment is stopped too early, they can redevelop and become resistant to the antibiotic.
Do not be surprised if the doctor did not prescribe antibiotics: they are not effective against viral diseases.
