Head Injury in Children Symptoms
Brain injuries can cause many symptoms, depending on the type of injury, its severity and its location in the head and inside the brain. The child’s neurological symptoms may include:
* Fainting (loss of consciousness)
* Lack of reaction
* Headache
* dizziness
* drowsiness
* Nausea and vomiting * confusion
* Difficulty walking
* Difficulty in speaking
* Memory loss (amnesia)
* Lack of coordination
* Irritable behavior
* Aggressive behavior
* Epilepsy (seizures)
* Numbness or weakness (paralysis) on a body part
In addition, physical signs may include:
* Bump, bruise or cut on the head
* Side visible collapse of the coup
* Black or blue pigmentation around the eyes or behind the ear
* Blood from the ear
* Fluid draining from the nose (this may be the clear fluid that bathes the brain and is filtered through the fractured skull near the nose).
* A prominent white spot between the skull bones (fontanelle) on a baby.
