Effects of Apple Consumption For Health.

Maybe you’ve heard the famous adage “an apple a day keeps the doctor out of your life,” but, how much is in it? In many epidemiologic studies have found an association between apple consumption and a decrease in the prevalence of cardiovascular disease, certain cancers and asthma.

An extensive review of studies published in the Nutrition Journal in 2004 and compiled by researchers at Cornell University discusses the results of several studies on the effects of apple consumption for health.

The apple, like other fruit, is rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. However, not only these nutrients appear to be responsible for their positive health effects. There are other compounds known as phytochemicals, which play an important role as potent antioxidants, among other functions. It is for this wealth of substances that often get more benefit by eating a whole fruit to take just one supplement that has vitamins. Apparently, the beneficial health effects arising from the interaction between different components of food.
