Nowadays the disabled people can enjoy cycling with the invention of the handcycle. If in the past those who are disabled could only use their wheelchair to move around indoors and outdoors, today they can enjoy outdoor recreational activities more frequently with the presence of the handcycle.

The handcycle is found in two forms. The first is in the form of upright position where the user will be using it in a taller sitting position. This is ideal to a person who has been using a wheelchair for a long time and wants to find an alternative way to move around outdoors. However, the upright handcycle is not able to provide speedy movement, so it is more appropriate for light recreational purposes.

Another type of handcycle is the one pedalled using the hand in a lower sitting position. This handcycle is created for maximum performance thus it is suitable to be used for travelling to work or taking part in a race.

Today getting around is no longer a big problem because you can always rely on your handcycle to take you from one place to another. The handcycle is not that expensive to own and everybody can practically use it for daily travelling or even for fun.
